Salem Seventh Day Baptist Church
Our Mission Statement
The Salem Seventh Day Baptist Church is called to proclaim and expand the
Kingdom of God by...
teaching God's children the basic principles of Christian living,
strengthening the family as a unit of Christian community,
embracing all people as part of the larger family of God, and
encouraging Sabbath observance as a model for spiritual development,
healing, and relationship building
Seventh Day who?
Many people are confused about who Seventh Day Baptists are. Like other
Baptists, Seventh Day Baptists believe in:
Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Bible as the inspired word of God. The Bible is our authority both
for our faith and our daily conduct.
Baptism of believers, by immersion, witnessing to our acceptance of
Christ as Savior and Lord.
Freedom of thought under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The congregational form of church government. Every member of the
church has the right to participate in the decision-making process of the
church.

Seventh Day Baptist History
Like other Baptists, Seventh Day Baptists trace their roots to 16th century
England, and since that time have worshipped on Sabbath (Saturday), the
seventh day of the week. The first American church was established in Newport,
Rhode Island in 1671. Now there are churches across the country and in eighteen
nations.
